LAN+LTE

TP-LINK Archer MR400 is a universal dual-band router, one of the main features of which is a built-in LTE modem that allows you to plug a 3G or 4G card into it and use it outside the city where there is no normal connection, and providers do not stand in lines. The Archer MR400 uses three internal antennas for LAN, and two more detachable antennas for LTE reception. The speed indicators are as follows: 400 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band, and 867 Mbps in the 5 GHz band. The maximum speed of a 4G connection will be 150 Mbps, but in fact in our realities it turns out to be an order of magnitude lower. However, for the “out of town” option, 40-50 Mbps is enough for surfing the net and watching streaming video in FullHD.

Simple and clear mobile application

Aside from LTE, the beauty of this router is the ease of setup through the mobile app. Initially, you are prompted to choose one of several configuration options — from simple, turn it on and go, to more sophisticated, focused on advanced users. If the most advanced third level is not enough, then you can dive into the abyss of web interface settings. To distribute traffic from a SIM card, you don’t need to do anything at all, just insert the card into the tray, and the router will pick up the settings itself.

LAN port 100 Mbps

Of the minuses of the model, we highlight the modest network settings and the LAN port, which is not able to work with a stream above 100 Mbps. Given that gigabit providers are no longer exotic, this is a clear omission. Moreover, the Archer MR400 costs a little over $100 and clearly does not fit into the category of low-cost routers. Therefore, we can recommend it first of all to those who live in the "at home — out of town" mode or suffer from regular network outages and are looking for an additional backup in case of loss of connection.
