Rugged and multi-sport
The debutant of 2023 in the line of the Polar brand is the direct heir to the multisport model Vantage M2 in concept and design. There are 130 on-board fitness modes for sports fans of all skill levels, including swimming (WR50 water resistant), accurate heart rate and health tracking, and sleep monitoring.
The model received a round dial with a 1.2-inch transflective screen. It loses in terms of brightness and color saturation to modern matrices, like OLED, but it guarantees easy-to-read data even in the sun. Additional features include Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect the display from scratches. But in general, the light (41 grams with strap) and moderately large (45 mm diameter) case is very reliable: its strength confirms compliance with the military standard MIL-STD-810G.
Advanced navigation and sports component
First of all, Polar Pacer Pro watches are aimed at runners and other cyclic sports. The Training Load Pro technology is implemented here, which analyzes the recovery of the body, each training process and gives tips on loads to avoid injuries. There are also training plans for running distances from 5 km to marathon, the Season Planner function (a planner for the whole season), FitSpark (recommendations for activities taking into account previous loads) and FuelWise (tips for replenishing energy on long runs or races).
Navigation capabilities are not limited to GPS with different systems. Maps, track guidance with instructions (Turn-by-Turn Guidance) and other proprietary options are available, such as auto-detection of descents and ascents (Hill Splitter) or route guidance (Route Guidance).
Decent autonomy
The watch will definitely allow you to run an ultramarathon or pass an Ironman, because with active GPS they work for at least 35 hours. In normal scenarios, the battery capacity of 265 mAh should be enough for about 6 days.
The disadvantages of the model include the lack of a built-in player (at least for controlling music from a smartphone) and the currently popular function of a pulse oximeter (measuring the level of oxygen in the blood). Also, not everyone will like a non-touch display: at least the initial development of working with the model will take a lot of time. But if sports functionality is a priority for you, then Polar Pacer Pro definitely deserves attention.
