24" FHD monitor with light sensor and presence sensor. Ergonomic stand with portrait mode, display adjustment and rotation.

A multi-purpose monitor with a 23.8-inch diagonal IPS screen, which has a whole arsenal of remarkable "chips". So, the model was armed with a PowerSensor presence sensor, which “screws” the brightness of the display in the absence of a user on the other side of the screen in order to extend the life of the monitor and save energy. Side-by-side with it is a LightSensor light sensor.

In general, the picture is displayed on the Philips 242B1 screen at the maximum FullHD resolution (1920x1080 pixels), the response time of the matrix is measured in the range of 4 ms, and the display also claims to cover 107% of the “triangle” of the sRGB colour space. The monitor features Flicker-Free backlight flicker minimization and LowBlue mode to reduce blue light. Also in the model there is an Easy Read mode, which switches the monitor to black and white mode for reading. On-board monitor interfaces are represented by VGA, DVI-D, DisplayPort v 1.2 and HDMI v 1.4 connectors. The fulcrum for the device is the ergonomic "leg" SmartErgoBase with adjustments for height, turn, tilt and screen rotation angles. To replace it, a VESA wall bracket in a common dimension of 100x100 mm is suitable.

Video reviews

The epithet "golden mean" fits perfectly with the Philips 242B1 monitor. It is balanced to perform any daily tasks.

Excellent colour reproduction

The monitor matrix is successfully calibrated straight from the factory. It reproduces colour temperature evenly and covers over a hundred percent of the sRGB space. The substrate for the screen of the device was a FullHD IPS-panel with a refresh rate of 75 Hz. Its viewing angles are traditionally large (178° in all viewing planes). Nice bonuses are Flicker-Free backlight flicker minimization technology and LowBlue mode with reduced blue glow intensity. A separate line in the model implements the Easy Read mode, which switches the monitor to black and white mode for comfortable reading.

Notable character traits

In terms of peers Philips 242B1 stands out with PowerSensor presence sensors and LightSensor illumination. The first one automatically puts the monitor into an energy-saving mode when there is no user on the other side of the screen, the second one adjusts the settings of the broadcast image to the ambient light conditions. There is also Adaptive-Sync synchronization in the model, aimed at eliminating jerks and tearing of the picture during its transmission from the video signal source.

Every chance of success

You can connect a signal source to the monitor via HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort or HDMI. Afterwards, the model is equipped with built-in 2 x 2 W speakers and four USB ports, one of which supports fast charging of compatible mobile gadgets. The monitor rests on the ergonomic "leg" SmartErgoBase with adjustments for height, tilt and screen rotation angles. The model has every chance of serious success in the category of inexpensive multi-purpose monitors!
