From the manufacturer's press release:
The DMC-L1 is equipped with the LEICA D VARIO-ELMARIT lens, which is the first to use the MEGA OIS optical image stabilization system developed specifically for digital cameras. In addition, the DMC-L1 has a Live MOS image sensor that captures and transmits a 4:3 image with a resolution of 7.5 million pixels, thus providing outstanding image quality.
The new camera also introduces Live View, which processes the signal directly from the viewfinder sensor to view the image captured by the lens on the large LCD screen. With the always-on Live View function and the large LCD screen, you can compose your shots with greater precision.
In addition, the DMC-L1 employs an effective ultrasonic dust protection system that solves the common problems of digital SLR cameras caused by dust adhering to the image sensor. With the new DMC-L1, Panasonic has managed to combine the most advanced digital technology with an attractive design. and a rich set of setup functions that mimic those of a traditional film camera in many ways.
This feature, as well as the exposure control on the body and the aperture ring on the barrel of the LEICA D VARIO-ELMARIT 14-50mm / F2.8-3.5 lens, provides the user with simple, intuitive shooting control. The magnesium alloy body is shaped like a professional varifocal film camera, and combined with the aluminium alloy lens section, it gives the camera the necessary rigidity and stylish appearance at the same time.
