Video reviews

Panasonic's brainchild is the successor to the popular Panasonic DMC-FZ200 superzoom, which has received many new bells and whistles. These included a 5-axis stabilization system when shooting video, weather protection and much more.

Lens

The camera is equipped with a complete lens from Leica, whose products have always stood out for their premium quality. It operates in a focal length range of 24-600mm (35mm equivalent) and has a constant aperture of f/2.8. Given the widest range of focal lengths, a high fixed aperture throughout the zoom is a unique feature of the lens.

Clarity and smoothness

The clarity of the picture at long focal lengths is the merit of the hybrid stabilization system: in photo mode, the image is stabilized along two axes, and when shooting video, the number of axes increases to five. Unfortunately, this feature does not work with 4K UHD (3840x2160) ultra-high definition video. The camera can record videos in this format with a frame rate of up to 30 fps with a maximum recording speed of 100 Mbps.

Convenience

In terms of ease of control, superzoom can be safely put in first place in various ratings. It fits comfortably in the hand, has a wide variety of customizable function keys, and is equipped with a viewfinder with a resolution of 1024x768 pixels and a swivel touch screen in all axes. The latter greatly simplifies changing the shooting parameters; you can also set the focus point by tapping on the display. The camera focuses very quickly — in about 0.09 s.

Resolution

The camera matrix consists of 12 million pixels (12 MP), each of which can absorb more light than the nearest competing models. Therefore, the picture at high ISO is of high quality and low noise. The only limitation of this resolution is the limited crop of photographs.

Family values

The camera can be a great family solution that allows you to capture all the main scenes in the frame and handles equally well with photo and video shooting at all focal lengths.

Reference. Frame rate (from the English Frame Rate — frame rate) — frame rate per unit of time (one second). The smoothness of the video sequence directly depends on the frame rate, especially in highly dynamic scenes. The most common framerates are 24, 25, 30, 60, 120 fps.
