Pure Android. Camera with four sensors. NFC. OZO Audio spatial sound technology.

A low-cost smartphone with balanced characteristics on a clean Android 11 operating system. The model has got hold of a large-caliber IPS screen with a diagonal size of 6.52", a resolution of the broadcast HD+ image (1600x720 pixels) and a teardrop “pattern” for the needs of an 8 MP selfie camera lens. On the back side of the plastic case of the device is a round platform with four "eyes" of the main camera 48 + 5 + 2 + 2 MP.

The hardware platform of the smartphone is based on the “pseudo-gaming” MediaTek Helio G35 mobile processor. The amount of memory on board the device is distributed in the ratio of 4 GB of RAM against 64 GB of space in the built-in storage. The Nokia G20 64GB microSD card slot is located separately from the two SIM card slots. A long battery life of the smartphone is provided by a capacious 5050 mAh rechargeable battery, charged through the contacts of a symmetrical USB-C connector. What else is of great interest is the proprietary OZO surround sound system, a side fingerprint scanner in the power button and an NFC on the onboard armament of the device.

Pure Android

Finnish company HMD Global, which produces Nokia smartphones, is trying with mixed success to revive the brand's former glory. And if flagships are lost against the background of competitors with more advanced features and low price tags, then state employees are able to interest potential buyers due to their attractive design and good “hardware”. The Nokia G20 is a prime example of this — a balanced model that fully pays for its cost. Its main advantage (in fact, like all modern Nokia smartphones) is pure Android — a concise and simple operating system without branded add-ons and shells that add often unnecessary functions, annoying built-in ads and at the same time “eat up” memory. Also, you are guaranteed to receive updates within two years and security updates in the next three years, that is, the device will not lose its relevance over time.

Four chambers and Scandinavian design

Externally, the smartphone is in no way inferior, and sometimes even superior to its low-cost competitors, especially Chinese ones, which are all the same. The 6.5-inch IPS display is framed by small bezels and has a neat waterdrop notch for the front camera. Perhaps, the impression is spoiled only by a rather large “chin” with the Nokia logo, which takes up the effective area of the panel. The back cover is made of plastic with a small pattern, which does not leave marks and does not slip in the hand. For the fingerprint scanner, a good place was chosen — on the side, in the power button. The manufacturer calls the design Scandinavian, and it is concise. If we discard the epithets, we get an attractive “tube” that will appeal to both children and their parents, and the older generation, which has already managed to appreciate the merits of modern gadgets. Also, the model is distinguished by the design of the main camera, which is made in the form of a circle with sensors inside and protrudes slightly above the surface, without requiring the use of a case. There are four modules here: a 48-megapixel main sensor with the option of combining several pixels, a 5 MP ultra-wide lens for shooting landscapes and two 2 MP sensors responsible for macro shots and depth estimation. Of course, nowadays, you won’t surprise anyone with such a number of sensors, especially since not all of them are important, but the most important thing is that the photos are of good quality for a low-cost device.

Several days on one charge

The device is equipped with a capacious 5050 mAh battery, which provides up to several days of battery life. However the charging power is only 10 watts. The MediaTek Helio G35 processor, although not an perfect solution for an inexpensive device, but together with 4 GB of RAM, it allows you to comfortably use your smartphone for web surfing, watching videos and even undemanding games.

Pleasant trifles

Other than that, the Nokia G20 has nice touches that make it a decent value-for-money smartphone overall. These include an NFC chip for contactless payments, a triple slot for two SIM cards and a memory card up to 512 GB, a USB-C connector, 3.5 mm audio output, an 8-megapixel front camera with face recognition, OZO Audio spatial sound technology, and also a factory film on the screen, which will save you from unnecessary expenses after buying a gadget.
