Youngest daughter

The junior representative of the NVIDIA Pascal family of video cards is the GeForce GTX 1050 with 2 GB of memory. Despite the updated architecture and the increased core frequency to 1.5 GHz, its performance is exactly the same as that of the old GTX 950 (reducing the number of micro-cores from 768 to 640 affects). But the competing 4-gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 460, depending on the exactingness of a particular game to the amount of video memory, can be either a third ahead or as much behind.

Dieting

The GeForce GTX 1050 graphics chips, like their improved version 1050 Ti, are manufactured according to the 14nm process technology at the Samsung factory, while the GTX 1060 and older are manufactured according to TSMC's 16nm process. This makes the GTX 1050 the best performance per watt available today. It consumes nothing at all - 60 W of electricity, so it does not need an additional power connector.

wasp waist

Record low power consumption and, as a result, heating made it possible to make a low-profile version of this graphics card - MSI GTX 1050 2GT LP. LowProfile video cards are used in thin Mini-ITX cases, in which, usually, computers are assembled that play the role of a multimedia centre or a game console. Previous generations of LP graphics cards (like the GT 730) were too weak for today's AAA games, while the GTX 1050 still handles everything at FullHD resolution and at least low graphics settings. But its small amount of video memory can backfire unpleasantly in the near future.
