The hands are prone to fatigue during prolonged computer use. To provide them a more natural position and simultaneously reduce strain on the hands, ergonomic keyboards have been designed, one of which is a product from Microsoft.
Ergonomic Set
The Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop set includes a separate NumPad and an ergonomic mouse in addition to the keyboard. All of them connect to the computer via a single USB receiver (hidden in the battery compartment of the mouse). By the way, all set components are powered by batteries of different formats: the mouse uses two AA batteries, the keyboard - two AAA batteries, and the numeric keypad - a CR2430 battery. Fortunately, replacing them is needed very rarely (once a year, every 3 years, and 6 years respectively).
Touch Typing
The maximum benefit from the separate layout of the keyboard for both hands can be extracted by users who have mastered the touch typing method. The fingers naturally land on the necessary keys, and both the complex curves of the keyboard body and the comfortable soft wrist rest panel help maintain the correct hand position. The keys have a short travel (similar to laptops), and their pressing is accompanied by a low noise level.
Functional Block
Experienced users are slightly disappointed by the reduced size of some function keys and the lack of a dividing line between them and the rest of the keyboard. The top row, by the way, has the additional responsibility of controlling multimedia functions. Instead of the usual button for this role, the keyboard uses a mechanical Fn switch.
Close Attention
The smooth curves of the keyboard with a slit in the central part of the body are not the only things that catch the eye at the first acquaintance with the Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop. No less interesting in appearance is the mouse - a kind of "chubby" with a groove for the right thumb. Due to its proportions and spherical shape, it is more suitable for holding in a small palm.
