Affordable ultra-wide
LG's 34-inch ultra-wide monitor boasts some of the most affordable price tags on the market. This makes it a cheap entry ticket to the UltraWide benefits. Despite the price, the LG UltraWide 34WP550 has got very thin bezels, a basic set of ports (2 HDMI and a headphone output) and even HDR support (although it is rather formal).
33% more space in width
The monitor has an aspect ratio of 21:9 and gives plus 33% of the screen width compared to standard widescreen models. In fact, this is a place for another (third or fourth) window of the working application. Also, extra-width will not be superfluous in a video editor, spreadsheets, when working with charts.
The IPS matrix used here provides wide viewing angles, useful for teamwork, for example, the need to demonstrate data to colleagues. The stand adjusts the height of the screen (range 11 cm). For ultra-wide solutions, this is convenient because it allows you to place an ultrabook under the display (another +1 to multitasking). If you do not need such a feature, then the junior model UltraWide 34WP500 is on sale, where only the slope changes.
For other scenarios
The manufacturer positions the LG UltraWide 34WP550 as a monitor for those who work with data, consume content and sometimes play. The gaming “set”, although basic, includes a short response time (5 ms GtG), AMD FreeSync support and additional gaming options: a sight and highlighting dark areas of the Black Stabilizer scene.
Image detailing is quite acceptable (resolution 2560x1080 pixels at 0.31 mm pixel size). The situation is similar with the color gamut (95% of the sRGB space). Modest peak brightness (250 cd/m²) certainly won't bring out the full beauty of HDR content, and moderate contrast ratio (1000:1), coupled with low-cost IPS panels' tendency to flare, is clearly not ideal for movie viewing in subdued indoor lighting conditions. But in any case, for the money, the LG UltraWide 34WP550 is a worthy choice for work and more.
