Model overview based on user reviews
The JBL 305P MkII speakers receive mixed reviews from users. Many appreciate their excellent sound quality, especially in the highs, and find them a great value for those on a budget, with some users noting that they outperform more expensive soundbars. They are praised for their balanced and versatile sound, making them suitable for various music genres. However, some users report issues with noise due to the amplifier and poor build quality, including inconsistent LED lighting and gaps in the construction. There are also complaints about the speakers being too large for bookshelf use and having a bloated sound. Despite these concerns, many users still find them a worthwhile purchase for their price range.

great model, love it

The speakers are amazing. All 5.1 and 2.1 soundbars are much worse. I had a Yamaha soundbar myself. Not the same... I paid 21 for this pair. It's unlikely there's anything better on the market. For those on a tight budget, it's truly a find. I use it with a Fiio DAC and a TV. I adjust the sound through my Xiaomi phone. Sony TV. Bass in a 14 m² room is just right. A subwoofer would be unnecessary. Get a good Chinese DAC plus these speakers, and the sound will be equivalent to a 70-worth setup if you compare it with an amplifier, sound card, and bookshelf speakers.

Worth buying

I bought 2 monitors, the sound is excellent, especially at the top, but due to the cheap amplifier, noise can be heard at a radius of less than 1.5-2 meters, and I advise everyone to do this)
Good sound, highs are clearly audible

Monitors that led the revolution

The first revision of JBL LSR monitors became a popular hit in the oversaturated market for inexpensive studio monitors. Literally all music magazines like SOS and Future Music unanimously praised them for a hitherto unseen combination of professional sound and affordable price. Usually, inexpensive monitors always made some compromises, while the 305 sounded honest and pleasant, fully meeting the requirements of the studio. Five years later, JBL released the second revision of the 305s, which redesigned the dynamic heads and made more flexible low-frequency equalization.

Got even better

Externally, these are all the same speakers with a recognizable lacquered front panel, a large bass reflex port at the back, a built-in class D amplifier and a branded waveguide, which was previously used in more expensive M2 series monitors. Its unusual shape ensures better coherence between the speakers and creates a more even sound field. Thanks to this monitors are not too capricious in the positioning of the listener. Roughly speaking, being a little to the side of them, you will hear exactly the same sound as in the perfect position. This somewhat simplifies the options for installing monitors in a room. Adds variability and a modified Boundary EQ switch that allows you to adjust the low frequencies depending on the room and the position of the monitors themselves. The treble switch, which allows you to add or remove 2 dB to the "tops", remains the same.

Smooth and honest sound with pronounced bass

Like the first revision, the 305P MkII uses a small fabric tweeter and a 5" polymer cone mounted on a rubber surround. In terms of sound, this is still one of the most interesting options in the low-cost segment: the timbre is even and neutral, but without dryness that tyres the ears. Despite the small size of the woofer, the bass is clearly distinguishable, it has decent power, pressure and structure. For this they are so loved by producers of electronic music, where powerful bass is critical. At the same time, the upper frequencies sound clean and pleasant, although they are slightly lacking in detail. This is a feature of all fabric "tweeters". In general, these monitors have a fairly balanced and versatile sound, so they are equally respected by techno producers and pop music connoisseurs.

variability

Oh yes, in addition to the 5 and 8-inch models, the MkII now has a more compromise solution with a 6-inch speaker. So choosing the right option for the room is now even easier.
