At first glance, the DJI Osmo Action 4 action camera can easily be mistaken for its predecessor. Indeed, both cameras are as similar as two peas in a pod.
Large image sensor
The main improvement in the 4th generation model is the larger image sensor, which has grown from 1/1.7” to 1/1.3”. This allows the matrix to capture more light, providing better shooting quality in low light conditions. The camera can still record in a maximum resolution of 4K at a speed of up to 120 fps. For the 2.7K format, a frame rate of 120 fps is also available, and in Full HD resolution, the frame rate can reach 240 fps.
Advanced stabilization
When shooting in maximum quality, the operator can use the RockSteady 3.0 stabilization algorithms. When the resolution is reduced to 2.7K, the HorizonBalancing and HorizonSteady systems are activated, which help maintain the horizon even with strong camera rotations. Another new feature is the 10-bit D-Log M color profile, which allows you to maximize the dynamic range for further flexible post-processing of video materials.
Two screens
The camera has a wide-angle lens with a viewing angle of about 155°, a 2.25-inch main screen, and a 1.4-inch front display. Both screens support touch control. For vlogging, it is convenient to use an external microphone via a separate input, and the built-in microphones recognize voice commands. The camera body can withstand immersion to a depth of 18 m. The battery can also be charged quickly: from 0 to 80% in about 18 minutes. The Adventure Combo package includes a camera with three batteries, a case for storing and charging them, and an Osmo 1.5m Extension Rod telescopic handle for easy filming.
