From the press release:
The DI-824VUP+ is a wireless 802.11g VPN router that combines broadband Internet access with robust VPN firewall protection, a built-in print server, and a 4-port printer and workstation switch. Designed for home and office use, the router provides high-speed wireless networking, secure VPN connections, advanced firewall protection, and policy-based packet content filtering. This device provides a cost effective way to set up a secure and fast network with no bottlenecks to the outside world.
Ready connection
With built-in wireless access point, 4-port 10/100 Mbps switch and print server, this router provides out-of-the-box connectivity for workstations and servers. Thus, these built-in features save money and avoid the hassle of installing a separate access point, Ethernet switches, and print server.
Increased wireless speed
When working with other D-Link AirPlusG+ series devices, the DI-824VUP+ delivers 10 times the throughput of 802.11b. This makes the DI-824VUP+ an perfect device for home or office users working on bandwidth-intensive applications such as audio and video streaming, gaming, and large file transfers over a wireless network. When working with other 802.11g devices, the DI-824VUP+ supports data transfer rates up to 54Mbps. The router is compatible with all 802.11b/b+ wireless devices.
Secure VPN connection
The router has built-in VPN support, which allows you to create multiple IPSec tunnels for remote offices. The IPSec implementation uses DES, 3DES, AES encryption and Automated Key Management according to the IKE/ISAKMP specification. The VPN tunnel can be activated from the router to the remote office or mobile user to securely transmit data traffic using triple DES encryption. This allows users to confidentially access and share important information. Multiple VPN tunnels can be easily created without the need to define Internet Key Exchange (IKE) protocol rules. In addition to VPN tunnels, the router also supports pass-through VPN for those users who want to use their own VPN client software.
Firewall protection
Firewall protection includes the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and the Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) packet content analysis engine. The router protects the network from attacks and maintains a log file for later analysis in order to identify unwanted events.
Access control
URL blocking and domain filtering are part of the main features offered by the router. These features restrict access to unwanted Internet resources.
DMZ and virtual server support
The router blocks and forwards certain ports, restricting services on the internal network that external users can access. A virtual server is used to redirect services to multiple servers. The router can be configured in such a way that separate FTP, Web and game servers can share a single, externally visible IP address, and at the same time remain protected from hacker attacks.
The DMZ settings are applied to a single client (such as a WEB server) behind the router to fully access it from the Internet and ensure full Internet application compatibility even if the specific port is unknown. This allows you to maintain a Web server and use e-commerce tools, while ensuring the security of the local office network.
Print server supporting parallel and USB printers
The router has bi-directional parallel and USB printer ports, allowing office network users to share parallel and USB printers to print files and Web pages.
