From the press release:
Dual-band access point AirPremier N DAP-2553 with PoE support is designed to build enterprise local area networks (LAN) based on the 802.11n standard (draft). Specifically designed for business-class networks, this access point offers network administrators a set of features to build secure and manageable dual-band wireless LANs.
Universal Access Point
Three detachable dual-band antennas provide optimal network coverage in both the 2.4GHz band (802.11g and 802.11n draft 2.0) and the 5GHz band (802.11a and 802.11n draft 2.0). With support for 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE), this high-speed Access Point can be installed in hard-to-reach places where power outlets are not available.
Increase in productivity
The DAP-2553 provides trouble-free operation with a maximum wireless signal transfer rate of up to 300 Mbps in either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency bands. Support for WMM (Wi-Fi Multimedia) QoS features makes this access point perfect for audio, video and voice applications. The DAP-2553 also supports load balancing for maximum performance.
Security
For wireless network security, the AirPremier N DAP-2553 Access Point supports the latest wireless network security technologies using both Personal and Enterprise WPA/WPA2 (802.11i) data encryption with RADIUS server support. This access point also supports other security features, including MAC address filtering, wireless LAN segmentation, SSID Broadcast mode disable, AP rogue detection, and schedule enable/disable. The AirPremier N Dual Band PoE Access Point supports up to 8 VLANs for Multiple SSID functionality to enable network segmentation. The DAP-2553 also supports a mechanism for isolating wireless network clients, which allows you to limit the direct client-client connection.
Multiple operating modes
To optimize network performance, the DAP-2553 can be configured in any of the operating modes: Access Point, Wireless Distribution System (WDS) with Access Point, WDS/Bridge (No AP Broadcasting), and Wireless Client. With WDS support, network administrators can easily install multiple DAP-2553 access points and configure them in bridge mode, while providing network access to private clients. It also supports the Spanning Tree Protocol, which provides greater data transfer efficiency, avoiding broadcast storms in WDS mode.
Network management
Network administrators can manage the settings of the DAP-2553 access point through the Web interface (HTTP), Secure Sockets Later (SSL, which provides a secure connection to the Internet), Secure Shell (SSH, which provides secure data transfer between local and remote computers) and Telnet (bidirectional , a network communication protocol). For advanced network management, administrators can use the D-Link AP Manager II utility or D-View module SNMPv3 to enable configuration and management of multiple access points from a single computer. In addition to a simplified management process, D-Link AP Manager II or D-View SNMPv3 software allows administrators to automatically run checks.
With dual-band signaling capability, PoE support, a wide range of management functions, multiple operating modes and reliable security, the new D-Link DAP-2553 access point is an perfect solution for the SMB sector for building wireless networks in industrial premises.
