Espresso

— traditional Italian espresso refers to a finely ground coffee drink that is prepared using espresso machines (see "Type"). Espresso forms the foundation of the entire European coffee culture and serves as the base for popular drinks like americano, latte, or cappuccino. A standard espresso shot is typically 35 mL and is made from 7 grams of finely ground coffee, although variations from this standard are possible (with a maximum serving volume of 60 mL). This type of coffee is known for its rich taste and aroma, with the desired result being a beautiful light brown foam on top, which contributes to the overall flavor. Although espresso has a relatively high caffeine concentration, the small serving size means that the actual caffeine content is also relatively low.
