Nickel-plated steel strings
— steel coated with a thin layer of nickel is used in strings for electric guitars and bass guitars. Nickel plating makes the sound somewhat softer and the string itself more slippery, making it easier to move your fingers and make certain playing techniques easier to use. The sound of such a braid, other things being equal, is somewhat softer than that of a purely steel one. It is also worth noting that the nickel-plated winding is somewhat softer, which has a positive effect on the service life of the thresholds.
