— bass strings are similar to electric guitar strings in many ways, in particular they are designed to be compatible with electromagnetic pickups and are made from the appropriate materials (steel or nickel). The main difference is the large thickness, due to the timbre of the instrument. A standard bass kit includes 4 strings, but 5- and even 6-string bass guitars (and string sets for them) are available.
