Such pockets make it easier to transport small items: thanks to them, small items do not hang around the entire volume of the bag, but are constantly located in a strictly defined place. It is especially convenient to transport valuables that do not need quick access in this way: in order to get to the inner pocket, you need to unzip the bag, and often also “dig through” the contents of the main compartment, which makes unauthorized access difficult.
