— usually, metal utensils are made of food steel (or ordinary alloy steel, if this is allowed by the application — for example, in the case of a nutcracker or a bottle opener). The metal is distinguished by high strength and solid appearance, it is easy to clean, scratch resistant, not afraid of heat, reliable and durable. The disadvantages of this material include a relatively large weight and, in some cases, a higher cost than polymeric materials such as nylon or silicone (see relevant paragraphs). Another caveat is that the metal is poorly compatible with some types of non-stick coatings — it can cause scratches, which is unacceptable for such surfaces.
