Alarms and Smart Hub with Thread connectivity
Thread
— a wireless protocol for smart home devices, in which the devices themselves build a low-power mesh network: each sensor, socket, or lamp can retransmit the signal to the neighbor, ensuring a farther and more stable connection without burdening the home Wi-Fi. It operates Thread over the 802.15.4 standard on a 2.4 GHz frequency, making it easily compatible with Matter and hubs from different brands. A Thread Border Router connects this local network to the internet, and in its absence, devices continue to communicate and execute scenes locally. Unlike Wi-Fi, Thread is more economical and stable for battery-powered sensors; compared to Bluetooth, it is faster and more reliable over large areas; and it differs from Zigbee/Z-Wave with its "native" IP stack and simpler integration through Matter. In terms of range and autonomy, it is comparable to Zigbee but offers greater flexibility in compatibility. Practically, this is evident in alarms and smart hubs: an open sensor triggers an alarm via Thread, and the hub activates the siren and lights without delay; scenes operate even if the internet is down.No offers found
