Such a container prevents pollution and damage to surrounding objects from contact with the soldering iron, protects the soldering iron itself and its accessories from various undesirable influences (in particular, dust and moisture), and also reduces the risk of losing any of the mentioned accessories — all of them are regularly stored in case. And some cases even allow you to put a hot soldering iron inside (however, the presence of such a possibility must still be checked according to the documentation).
