Solitaire

— solitaire is a single player puzzle game. A board with a set of notches is usually used as a playing field, balls are used as chips; another option is a field with holes and pegs. The player walks by "jumping" one chip over another horizontally, vertically, and in some varieties — diagonally; the piece jumped over is removed from the board. The player's task is to free the entire field from chips, leaving one in the centre of the board. Such a game can be an excellent intellectual exercise not only for children, but also for adults.
