Taboo board games

 

— a game similar to Alias in many ways: the player is supposed to explain a certain word to his team without saying it. The difference between "Taboo" is that when explaining, the player must avoid both the word being explained and some other words directly related to it. The game kit may include a squeaker that makes a loud sound if the player has named a taboo word; in this case, the team loses points. Also, the set usually includes a set of cards with guessed words and taboo words for them; the number of such cards can reach several hundred, which gives many opportunities for the game.
