Transistor amplifiers
— transistor or solid-state models make up the most numerous class of modern amplifiers. Such designs allow for clear sound with extremely low distortion, and the transistors themselves are not as expensive, "capricious" and fragile as lamps. Of any significant shortcomings, one can name only the inability to provide a characteristic “tube” sound, but this is a direct consequence of the already mentioned sound purity.
