Hard

— hard boots have a one-piece outer frame made of hard material, inside of which there is a soft liner — for comfortable placement of the foot. They are stronger than soft ones and more "responsive" because allow the rider to more accurately feel the position of the skate and the surface under the wheels. On the other hand, hard boots have less ventilation, more weight, and higher requirements for sizing accuracy. Because of this, they are not very popular and are found mainly in some fitness and stunt riding roller skates (see "Riding style").
