Flocked coating (velour)

— the characteristic velvety finish used in lounging mattresses (see "Type").

The main point of such a coating is that the sheet does not slip off the mattress. In addition, it provides additional comfort — with or without a sheet: velor is nicer and warmer to the touch than a smooth synthetic shell. But in mattresses for "water" purposes, this feature is practically not found; extremely rare exceptions are separate children's mattresses, where the velor surface is used, again, for additional comfort.
