Lever winches
Lever winch
— any winch is a device for moving goods, working by rotating the drum, on which the cable is wound (less often, the belt). The use of a cable / belt is the most noticeable difference between such devices and hoists (where a chain is used). Another, less noticeable, but more fundamental point is that the rotation on the winch drum is often transmitted directly from the lever or engine, without additional mechanisms (except for drum models — see the relevant paragraph).Specifically, lever winches are powered by the user's muscle power, and the force on the drum, as the name suggests, is transmitted through a ratchet lever (this mechanism allows the drum to be rotated by moving the lever back and forth rather than turning it through a full 360°). Such winches usually have two hooks on both sides — one for the load, the second for attaching / hanging the fixture itself. Anyway, such devices are relatively simple and inexpensive, while being very versatile — most models can be used for both horizontal and vertical movement of goods. So it is the lever scheme that is most popular among hand-operated winches.
