A print server is a computer used to turn a regular printer into a network printer: a printer connected through such a computer becomes available to all users of the local network. In addition, the print server manages print jobs, stores them until they are completed or canceled (which allows printing even if the user who submitted the job logs off), and may be responsible for other tasks, such as initially saving materials from the MFP scanner. All these functions can be performed by a regular user PC, however, a more convenient option is often to use the NAS as a print server; there are several arguments in favor of this. Firstly, the NAS server usually remains on all the time, so the printer is always available for work. Secondly, the transfer of print management to an external device allows you to remove some of the load from user computers. Thirdly, NAS servers with this function can be supplemented with various software tools that provide additional convenience in print management.
