Altazimuth telescopes

Azimuth

— this category includes mounts that provide guidance exclusively in azimuth and elevation, without being tied to the earth's axis, as in equatorial mounts (see the relevant paragraph). Azimuthal systems have simplicity and low cost, while their capabilities are quite sufficient for comfortable visual observations. On the other hand, auto-tracking in such telescopes is much more difficult to implement than in models with an equatorial mount, this necessarily requires complex electronics with an auto-tracking system; this should be taken into account by those who wish to use a telescope with an alt-azimuth mount for astrophotography. Note that Dobson azimuthal systems are not included in this category, they are allocated in a separate item in our catalog.
