The meaning of such an installation is to facilitate tracking of celestial objects moving across the sky due to the rotation of the Earth: an equatorial mount allows you to constantly keep the “target” in the field of view, evenly rotating the telescope along one of the axes. This feature is especially useful for astrophotography. Among the shortcomings of this option, it is worth noting the bulkiness, high cost and complexity of application (in particular, for normal operation, adjustment to the geographical latitude of the observation site is necessary).
