Water heaters with magnesium anode

Magnesium anode

— a device that protects metal parts in the hot water system from corrosion (primarily the heater and tank). The properties of magnesium are such that it can be said to "take over" most of the corrosion. Thus, instead of changing the heater, plumbing parts, or even the entire tank (and together with the heater) due to wear, it is enough to periodically change the anode itself — this is much easier and cheaper. At the same time, the service life of magnesium anodes is quite large — about 5-7 years.
