P7 level

— the maximum level of security provided by the DIN 66399 standard: the paper is cut into fragments less than 1 mm wide and less than 5 mm² in area. Recovery of materials disposed of in this way is considered basically impossible; therefore shredders of this class can be used even for documents of special national importance and other papers of similar importance. On the other hand, such units are very expensive, and their performance is low; therefore, it is worth paying attention to such a technique only in cases where the requirements for privacy fundamentally outweigh these shortcomings.

For optical discs, the seventh level of secrecy involves cutting into fragments up to 0.2 mm², for credit cards — up to 25 mm².
