HP DeskJet MFPs are positioned as an entry ticket into the world of home printing. The main technological feature of these devices is the use of a two-cartridge system, where the printing mechanisms are replaced along with the ink cartridges. This solution makes the printer itself very cheap and reliable in the long term: if the ink dries up after a long period of inactivity, the user simply needs to buy a new cartridge to restore the device's functionality. Meanwhile, the devices remain full-fledged "combinations," combining in one compact body the capabilities of a printer, scanner, and copier.

The technical characteristics of the series are optimized for everyday household needs such as printing school reports or occasional documents. A print resolution of 4800x1200 dpi allows for clear text and high-quality color images, while a print speed of 5 to 8 pages per minute provides the opportunity to prepare a school paper, print a boarding pass, or a document copy without unnecessary rush. It is worth noting that due to the small cartridge volume, the HP DeskJet series is not designed for high-volume printing of hundreds of pages daily. This equipment is for situations where a printer is needed from time to time, and desk space is limited.

The modern lineup has almost completely transitioned to wireless standards: Wi-Fi support is available in almost all current devices (for instance, in models with the "e" index). For control, simple monochrome LCD displays are usually provided on the body, displaying the number of copies and service icons. Setup and operation are greatly simplified by the HP Smart app, which allows documents to be sent to print directly from a smartphone.
