Alienware is one of the oldest, most experienced and recognizable manufacturers of products for gamers. Monitors, laptops, headsets or mice from companies are always expensive, look unusual and set high quality standards. Alienware keyboards are no exception - these are products for experienced gamers who will quickly sense any falsehoods or shortcomings. The base of a typical Alienware keyboard is made of metal, the front cover is made of matte plastic with an unusual mint or purple tint. Sound-insulating silicone is blown between the metal base and the printed circuit board.

The switches used are mechanical Cherry switches, which over the past years have become the de facto industry standard. The stabilizers of the large buttons are well lubricated and do not warp or knock. The keycaps are made using a double casting method and the characters are laser engraved. RGB lighting is often individual, with support for several levels of brightness and a variety of lighting effects. The cable is usually quite thick, wrapped tightly and securely. There is a groove hidden at the bottom for pulling and fixing the cable. For complete happiness there are not enough palm rests, although surveys show that this is still a matter of personal preference.

It is also impossible not to note the Alienware corporate style, which is evident even when creating such a seemingly boring and utilitarian thing as a keyboard. Today, literally every second mechanical keyboard looks as if a hundred glowing buttons were stuck on a metal plate, then they were all quickly painted black and sent to the store. Alienware is trying to overcome this pattern by using unconventional geometric shapes, neat decorative inserts and non-trivial color combinations a la “white + turquoise”. The blue and white model AW420K looks especially interesting with a rounded base and an unusual insert with the Alienware logo.
