Rekon 3C/EXO/TR 29in Tire

Inspired by the success of the Ikon cross country tire, Maxxis created the Rekon 3C/EXO/TR tire for more aggressive trails. Designed for hardpack, medium, and loose conditions the Rekon has larger knobs that are spaced further apart to improve grip while cornering and braking. The Rekon uses Maxxis’ 3C rubber compound to keep you glued to the groun... mored while EXO sidewall protection fends off flats. Wide center knobs provide extra control when braking, giving you more confidence to dive into rough terrain. The center knobs are ramped to preserve some of the fast rolling speed the Ikon was known for. The L-shaped side knobs hook up well in corners letting you carry more speed through to the next section. All knobs are siped to give them more surface area under load, further increasing traction on any trail surface. The tread pattern spaces the knobs further apart than the Ikon for better grip on loose surfaces and to help with mud-shedding. The triple-density 3C rubber is a proven compound that balances high grip with fast rolling speeds to excel on all types of soil. The compound comes in two different versions for this tire. The 2. 4in tire comes in the Maxx Terra compound which is a bit softer, maximizing grip and making this an excellent option for the front tire. The 2. 25in comes in Maxx Speed, a slightly harder rubber that rolls fast and wears slower, making it a great rear tire. These are just recommendations though, either width can be used front and rear with success. EXO sidewall protection resists abrasion, helping prevent rocks from slicing open your sidewall and allowing you to charge into rock gardens with confidence knowing your chance of flatting is reduced. The tire has a TR (tubeless-ready) bead, of course, so you can set it up tubeless with your favorite sealant but can always throw a tube in if needed.

Maxxis Rekon Tires - Black - 29x2.25 TB96899100

The Rekon is an aggressive trail tire for intermediate and technical terrain. Wide knobs down the middle provide control under braking and L-shaped side knobs assure support when carving loose turns. With confidence like this you can race more and scout less. FEATURES: - Dual Compound: Offers low rolling resistance and increased cornering tract... moreion - 3C MaxxTerra Compound: An intermediate triple compound configuration used across our mountain tire line. The 3C MaxxTerra compound offers more traction than 3C MaxxSpeed, yet provides better treadwear and less rolling resistance than MaxxGrip, which makes it ideal for trail riding in all conditions. - 3C MaxxSpeed Compound: Used primarily in cross country (XC) tires, the two compounds in the outer layer are specially formulated to reduce rolling resistance and optimize treadwear and traction. - EXO Casing: A cut- and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of many Maxxis mountain bike and gravel tires. This densely woven fabric is lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tire remains unaffected. Choose EXO Protection for enhanced durability for gravel, XC, and light-duty trail riding. - EXO + Casing: Medium-duty puncture protection option suitable for all-around trail riding and light weight e-bikes. Beginning with a durable 60 TPI casing, add in legendary EXO puncture protection layer in the sidewalls, and top it off with a small butyl insert around the bead. The tough casing and EXO material ward off damage from rocks and roots, while the butyl insert protects the tire from pinch flats and helps prevent rim damage. - Wide Trail (WT) Construction: Optimizes the tire’s tread layout and profile on today’s modern, wider rims. Traditional tires are designed around older, narrower rims and can create an overly square tire profile, leading to less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for a 35mm inner rim width but are proven to work over a range from 30-35mm inner rim widths, depending on the rider’s preference. - Tubeless Ready (TL): Tubeless ready tires provide the rider with many benefits: the ability to run lower air pressures, which improves traction; lower rolling resistance when compared to a tube-type tire; and less chance of flatting because there is no tube. Tubeless ready tires are denoted by the letters “TR” on the sidewall. Tubeless ready tires must be mounted to tubeless compatible rims and require the use of a liquid sealant to maintain pressure. Liquid sealants have the added benefit of sealing small punctures. Be sure to check your sealant regularly and refresh as needed as it will dry out over time.
