Good but not perfect new product from JBL
JBL releases new headphones with such frequency, as if the lives of the company's employees depend on it. Therefore, sorting out the assortment of similar products is another task. It is all the more surprising that in 2020 only one model of wireless headphones was released, which caused a somewhat ambiguous reaction from the public. Some buyers praised the excellent noise isolation (although they do not have noise reduction) and battery life (6 hours of operation), others liked the juicy and bass sound, the third liked the implementation of the TalkThru / Ambient Aware function, and the fourth spat on the design and ergonomics. The truth, as always, was somewhere in the middle.
Large volume margin and excellent battery life
So, with battery life and sound insulation, they really have complete order. Even without ANS, they perfectly isolate the ears from external influences, and the battery can last all 7-8 hours if you listen to music at 50-60% of the maximum volume. Most likely, this is how you will use them, their volume margin is somehow prohibitive, even at 80% the ears sometimes want to curl into a tube. I was surprised that even at a volume of 100%, they practically do not suffer from distortion. The very sound of the headphones is traditionally tuned to modern music. JBL has always been like this, no wonder. The 300TWS has a well-detailed bottom (especially mid-bass), high-quality mids and confident highs, without sand and soap. In our opinion, they sound exactly for their money, without surprises. Probably, during the tests, we were spoiled by the audiophile Sennheiser Momentum and Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay E8 3.0 models.
Big and not very comfortable
We turn from compliments to complaints, which were also confirmed. If you're looking for beautiful and stylish headphones, look no further. Both in the ears and in the case, they are easy to confuse with some no-name headphones from China for 10 bucks. In comparison to this, the official page of this model looks especially funny, where “beautiful appearance” is listed as one of the features, along with battery life and protection against drops of sweat and rain (IPX5). Their landing is also not the most comfortable. Massive headphones, although they sit securely in the auricle, but after a couple of hours they ask to go out so that the ears can rest. Here a set of interchangeable ear pads and additional rubber mounts come to the rescue. If you add up all these factors, then we get excellent, although not perfect TW headphones with good battery life, a bunch of additional goodies and good sound.
