Creative's Muvo series of compact portable speakers deliver sound quality and volume that some competitors cannot deliver in much larger sizes. Today we will talk about the Muvo Play model, which costs the same as the JBL Clip 3 ($45), but “does” it in all respects.
Everything is at its best
In appearance, the speaker resembles a barrel no larger than a cup. The body is made of soft-touch plastic, front and back covered with dense textiles. On the sides are two passive radiators with Creative inscriptions. The speaker is offered in 4 colours: red, orange, blue and black. Protected from water by IPX7 technology. It has an eyelet for the strap that comes with it.
Twice as much sound
Two 1.5-inch active speakers with a total power of 10 W RMS are responsible for the sound, and Bluetooth 5.0 and an AUX cable are responsible for its transmission. The frequency range is very decent for such a baby, 70 – 20,000 Hz. As a result, we have a rather detailed and timbre-rich sound with a good rendering of highs and mids and even quite clearly traced bass.
Add here a capacious 2000 mAh battery (about 10 hours of listening), USB-C, speakerphone, Dual Mode mode for creating a stereo pair with another similar speaker and we get a mega functional audio system in an ultra-compact size for a very limited price tag. The combination is almost impossible, but Creative definitely breaks stereotypes.
