Wide frequency range.

High-quality and inexpensive wired on-ear closed-back headphones for use in amateur and semi-professional studio conditions. They feature a relatively flat frequency response that provides the neutral monitor sound you need to appreciate the quality of studio work or live recordings. They will be useful for mixing, mastering and any other types of audio processing. In addition, the Audio-Technica ATH-M30x headphones can be a good choice for home users who prefer a "dry" natural sound without the additional "warm" tonal colour usually introduced by consumer models.

The foldable headphone design is similar to that used in the older product of the ATH-M50x line. It has a metal headband and durable plastic cups with large soft ear cushions that provide good passive noise isolation. Comfortable for prolonged use. They have an increased impedance of 47 ohms and are designed for use with professional equipment, a high-quality sound card with a good DAC and amplifier, or a stationary Hi-Fi player. They are equipped with a long 3-metre cable with a 3-pin Jack 6.35mm connector and an adapter for mini-Jack.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Audio-Technica ATH-M30x headphones offer a good sound detail with elastic and rich low frequencies, making them suitable for various music genres. They are designed with a foldable, full-size Over-Ear structure, providing comfort and portability. Users appreciate the excellent noise isolation and the long 3-meter cable, which is convenient for home use. However, some users find the high frequencies overestimated, requiring adjustments, and the non-detachable cable is seen as a limitation. The headphones are noted for their sturdy construction and comfortable fit, although the material quality of the ear cushions has been criticized. While the sound is generally praised, some users feel the high frequencies can be harsh, and the headphones may not perform well with integrated sound cards without additional amplification. Overall, the ATH-M30x is considered a good value for its price, especially for home listening, but may not satisfy those seeking a more refined sound experience.

a model with serious flaws
27 January 2020
I don't recommend it. Definitely bad ears.
They are warm when there is wind outside.
I didn’t think that for 4500 you could buy such crap. I'm not even talking about sound. There the mids mumble, the lows skip. Brrrrr. I bought it a year ago. Gave it to a person to play on the computer. These are not ears for music. I listened through an amplifier.

good model, I liked it

Good sound detail. Elastic and rich low frequencies. Quite powerful emitters.
High frequencies are clearly overestimated. You have to adjust them with a regulator on the final amplifier.

A family of headphones that needs no introduction

The ATH series of headphones from the Japanese brand Audio-Technica has long been respected by both professional sound engineers and ordinary music lovers who are looking for maximum sound quality at a reasonable price. In this case, the younger models of the line, which cost a little more than mass-market models from JBL and Sony, will be beyond competition, but in terms of sound quality they are one (or maybe two) steps higher.

Dark and slightly colored sound

If we compare the ATH-M30x with the older models, we will see an almost identical design and similar characteristics: 40 mm dynamic drivers, low resistance for adequate work with portable players and smartphones (in this case 47 Ohm) and traditionally "adult" sound of a studio level. At least, this is what we expected. In fact, it turned out to be a noticeable difference from the reference ATH-M50x with their monitor sound. Here, the sound is darker: the upper frequencies are not so airy, and the bass, on the contrary, is more noticeable, aggressive and percussive. And the 30s do not work so subtly with the stage, the instruments seem to be standing right in front of the listener, creating a powerful wall of sound.

In general, here the comparison is more likely with some JBL on steroids, which bassheads love. If you are looking for a more honest and delicate sound, then it is better to look towards the more sophisticated and expensive model ATH-M50x.

Externally a copy of ATH-M50x

Now the great news: both the appearance and the design are almost identical to the most popular model in the ATH-M50x line: solid assembly, reliable headband design, thick, soft ear pads rotate in two directions, making it easy to assemble the headphones and hide them in a case. When unfolded, they sit comfortably on the head, and thanks to the soft velour ear pads, the ears get tired less in the heat. But the package is simpler to reduce the price: instead of a pair of replaceable cables, we only got one non-removable one and a simpler carrying case.
