The tiny adapter from Asus with the model index USB-AC53 wears the Nano prefix for a reason — it says about the ultra-compact dimensions of the USB dongle 20x14x7 mm. Yes, and this miniature device weighs only 5 g.

Dual Band Wi-Fi

They managed to place a dual-band module with support for the Wi-Fi 5 standard (802.11ac) in a miniature body of the device. In the operating mode at a frequency of 2.4 GHz, it provides a data exchange rate of up to 300 Mbps, in the 5 GHz band — up to 867 Mbps. In fact, the speed will be one and a half to two times lower — all kinds of interference interfere, plus the built-in antennas are sensitive to the slightest obstacles in the path of the wireless signal.

Laptop Orientation

The Asus USB-AC53 Nano is more tailored for use with laptops, in which their own Wi-Fi module cannot provide a normal wireless connection speed for a number of reasons. For example, it does not support the 5 GHz band or is installed somewhere in the centre of the bottom panel, which is why when working with a laptop “on your knees”, the quality of data reception and transmission deteriorates several times. Together with traditional "system units", the adapter behaves worse, since it must be placed in the direct line of sight of a powerful router signal.

Blind-front adapter

The dongle occupies a free USB port on your computer and remains virtually invisible in it. In addition, it almost does not protrude from the size of the device, so the adapter can be left in the computer during transportation. Asus USB-AC53 Nano supports MU-MIMO technology in a separate line, and it comes with a disk with drivers and utilities. The adapter is compatible with all current versions of Windows and macOS operating systems.
