- Nimble fellow - 4 cores - It can't be compared with intel celeron, Pentium, i3 - as they are pathetic weak [censored], thanks to this 840 model processor, I realized that AMD has come a long way, caught up and even surpassed intel, showing the best performance with Radeon video cards by entering into a synergistic connection with them! Where will you find a quad-core processor for 4000 RUB? Intel would choke for such money and at best give us a weak dual-core that would be a total dud! i bought a Mikrotron processor, my system is as follows: Athlon X4 860K, Cooler Zalman CNPS5X Performa. Motherboard - Asus A88X-Plus, memory 2 x 4GB Transcend-1333, Patriot-1333 modules, although from different manufacturers, they have the same timings in dual-channel mode, the performance is excellent, I might buy better memory later, but as I said, the performance is excellent with no errors. Graphics card Asus GeForce GTX 460 SE 1GB. I am satisfied. For comparison - the Windows 7 64bit rating: Processor 7.4. Memory (RAM) 7.4. Graphics 7.4. Gaming graphics 7.4. After the deficit and rise in price of the Pentium G4560, AMD Athlon X4 860K again became the cheapest quad-core. Its direct competitor in price is the dual-core Celeron G3920. But for modern applications, including games, the number of cores is more important than high performance per core.
Accelerate to full
The Athlon X4 860K is built on the Kaveri architecture (10 percent more performant than the previous Piledriver), exactly the same as in the older AMD A8 and A10 chips. That's just unlike them, 860K lacks integrated graphics. However, if you are still going to buy a discrete graphics card, then this is even a plus. The lack of graphics and, as a result, less heating allows you to overclock the processor to a higher frequency — 4.3 – 4.4 GHz, depending on the success of a particular instance.
Thrifty gamer
We can advise AMD Athlon X4 860K exclusively for building an initial gaming PC costing $400 – $500. An perfect pair for it would be a Radeon RX550, GeForce GT 1030 or GTX 1050 graphics card. More powerful graphics accelerators this processor due to low performance per core, most likely , will not pull.
