Model overview based on user reviews
The Yamaha A-S701 is a well-regarded integrated amplifier known for its pure and sterile sound quality, featuring an optical input that sets it apart from competitors in its price range. It offers excellent build quality and a robust power reserve, capable of handling 8 Ohm speakers with ease. Users appreciate the treble and bass adjustments, as well as the built-in DAC and amplifier circuit. While the sound is not high-end, it delivers genuine Hi-Fi quality, making it a solid choice for those seeking good sound without expecting miracles. Some concerns were raised about the sloppy installation of parts, which could lead to potential issues, but overall, the assembly and sound are praised. The price is considered a bit high, but given the features and performance, it remains a recommended option for Hi-Fi enthusiasts.
Pros
Cons
I decided to remove the top cover and see what was inside, since I noticed through the slots that some parts were installed crookedly. The inspection showed that the quality of installation of radio components was indeed quite sloppy. Some resistances, installed vertically to save space, were almost touching each other, which could lead to a short circuit between them in the future. I straightened it out and installed it really vertically. Under some electrolytes there are puddles of thermal paste; I don’t understand why it’s there, but I didn’t touch it. In general, there are questions for the manufacturer. This is, of course, a mid-level amplifier, but not to the same extent. Moreover, the price of the amplifier is not cheap. I am dissatisfied. The sound is normal, but not high-end, naturally. Sloppy installation of parts, for this manufacturer this is some kind of shame. |
I bought this amp to replace an old Yamaha-840, which I wasn't very satisfied with. Here are my conclusions: 1. The build quality is quite good, which is clearly visible through the ventilation grille slots on top. 2. The sound, as expected, is much better than the old Yamaha's. Of course, it's not High-End, which you can't get for this money, but it's genuine quality Hi-Fi. However, you must understand that the speakers also shouldn't be too cheap; I recently got the Magnat Transpuls 1000. All frequencies are in place, the bass is overwhelming, I've almost turned it down to the minimum. For this reason, I don't listen directly without the tone control. It’s even better, if possible, to listen to several different speakers with a nominal power of 50-70 watts, as I think there might be speakers even more suitable. 3. Before listening, it’s advisable to keep the amplifier powered on for warming up for 5-10 minutes. You can clearly hear how the sound changes during this time, becoming less harsh. 4. The price could be a bit lower, 50-55 instead of today’s minimum of 60. Unfortunately, everything else with similar characteristics is even more expensive, so there’s not much choice. Therefore, for lovers of good sound who don’t expect miracles for this price, I definitely recommend it. It's honest Hi-Fi. Assembly, sound. The price is currently a bit high. Many people say that the amp looks simple, lacking lights and gauges, but for me, it's even better this way, as it doesn't distract from listening. Again, it's not a McIntosh for a million. |
It's not visible in which position the volume knob is (it rotates when controlled by the remote). Excellent built-in DAC, good amplifier circuit, and great features. You can't find better for this price. I listen using professional speakers, acoustics "yochik". 1. Pure, ridiculously sterile sound. 2. Optical input - something competitors in this price range do not have. 3. Power reserve - handles speakers with 8 Ohm impedance. 4. There is treble and bass adjustment. Excellent build quality, good sound. Not found. use Yamaha A-S701 month or more i recommend it should buy |
