TS-RDF5W

Compact, lightweight and reliable card reader, capable of fully working with SDHC/SDXC and microSDHC/microSDXC memory cards. It is positioned as a product in the basic price category, aimed at a wide range of users who regularly face the problem of quickly reading and writing data from the above memory cards. It is distinguished by its compact, lightweight plastic case (5.6 x 2.4 x 0.9 cm), a high degree of compatibility, the presence of a clear built-in LED indicator and a decent data exchange speed: UHS-I cards operate at maximum speed, UHS-II cards are limited to 104 Mbit/ With.

The Transcend TS-RDF5 card reader is equipped with a high-speed USB-A 3.2 Gen1 port, which has more than enough bandwidth for fast information transfer. Thanks to its modest dimensions and low weight, you can carry it with you all the time and take it on any trip, travel or business trip. It can become a convenient assistant for owners of smartphones, tablets, drones, portable game consoles, digital photo/video/action cameras and other gadgets that use memory cards. Transcend offers a free proprietary utility, RecoveRx, that allows you to quickly find and recover accidentally deleted data, such as digital photos, documents, music and videos.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Transcend TS-RDF5 card reader is a compact and efficient device, praised for its impressive USB 3.0 reading/writing speed and small size, making it highly portable. It features a protective cap for the USB connector, ensuring durability. Users appreciate its reliability for tasks such as backing up files and transferring data between devices. However, some note the lack of protective caps for memory card slots and its potential to block adjacent USB ports due to its width. Despite these minor drawbacks, it remains a functional and dependable choice, with no reported glitches, making it a favored tool for those who require a quick and efficient card reader.

Cons

For servicing PCs, backing up files to memory cards - just what you need
15 December 2024
I have been using this card reader for about 7 years. I use it for various tasks - for transferring data between devices, for backing up important information to a dedicated memory card, and I also use it in conjunction with bootable memory cards. I have long stopped using flash drives for installing/reinstalling operating systems and similar tasks. It is easier to insert the memory card in read mode to avoid transferring any harmful programs and viruses onto it than to clean a flash drive. The USB 3.0 version works well, and instead of waiting half an hour for everything to be written to the memory card, I only wait 7-10 minutes, and it's all ready. Of course, a fast memory card with a read/write speed of at least 80/40 Megabytes per second is also needed. The design is nothing special, and the size also allows you to carry it in your wallet.
USB 3.0 - accordingly, the reading/writing speed is impressive. Small size, which is definitely a plus for a card reader. Protective cap to keep the USB connector safe from dirt. Does not reduce speed after prolonged use, compared to other no-name card readers.
It lacks protective caps for the memory card slots, but if the card reader is stored in a small case, then there won't be any issues with dirt. In some cases, the width is too large, and if the USB ports on the PC or laptop are located close to each other, the card reader may block adjacent ports. I have encountered this problem occasionally, but I found ways to resolve it.
