Swarovski crystals

— imitation gems made of zirconium dioxide or other similar material, made by Swarovski. At a relatively low cost, such crystals (also referred to as "rhinestones") look quite attractive, often almost as good as real gems. This is achieved through high refractive indices and dispersion, due to which beautiful iridescent highlights are created when light passes through the crystal.

Technically, most of these stones are phianites (see the relevant paragraph). However, they are singled out in a separate category precisely because of the brand. The Swarovski company is perhaps the most famous global manufacturer of rhinestones, in its "arsenal" there are many developments in this area, and Swarovski crystals are considered quite a prestigious material (in their class, of course).
