Amethyst rings

Amethyst

— one of the most common varieties of quartz. Transparent amethysts are the most valuable, they are classified as semi-precious stones; it is these stones that are most often found in rings.

According to its properties, this mineral is not very different from quartz. The key difference lies in the colour — amethysts are by definition blue, blue-pink or lilac. Artificial amethysts are also produced — in fact, they are cubic zirconias (see the relevant paragraph), but they are separated into a separate category due to their colour and a high degree of similarity to a natural mineral.
