Internal server pockets
For the server
— pockets designed for servers are usually solutions for multiple drives (most often from 2 to 6). At the same time, separate drives are installed in them according to the “sled” principle: the disk / SSD is mounted in a quick-release cartridge, and such a cartridge is already inserted into a pocket located in the case. To protect against theft and unauthorized extraction, a lock is often provided in the design. Also in this category there are models that support special professional connection interfaces — primarily SAS.All these features provide convenience in various specific tasks associated with the use of servers — for example, when quickly replacing a drive in an array (some pockets even allow "hot" replacement), when you need to back up data from a drive to a third-party device, when adding new drives to a system, etc. At the same time, we note that although RAID arrays are often used in server systems, however, support for such arrays by the pocket itself (see "Functions and Capabilities") is not found in such models — in this case it is more convenient to implement it using the means of the server itself .
