Carbon and fibreglass

The first material is actually a simplified and more accessible analogue of fibreglass (see the relevant paragraph): fibreglass knitting needles are somewhat inferior to fibreglass in terms of reliability, but they still turn out to be quite flexible and resilient, despite the fact that they are much cheaper. CFRP, in turn, is a fairly advanced material: it has high strength with low weight, but it is not cheap.
