3D printers with an open building chamber

— the printer has an open print chamber; in other words, the print area in such devices does not have special additional fences. This feature is typical mainly for FDM/FFF printers (see "Print Technology"). Such models are considered less advanced than similar units with closed chambers: an open printbed is prone to contamination, and the product on it cools quickly, which can lead to deformations — especially when using materials with significant shrinkage. On the other hand, the open design has its advantages. Firstly, the printer is lighter and noticeably cheaper than a closed model with similar characteristics. Secondly, a high cooling rate can also be an advantage: thanks to it, you can do without powerful, bulky cooling systems and at the same time increase print speed. So this particular option is considered optimal for relatively simple fusing printing tasks.
