To correct the situation, the backlight is applied. Most often it is based on light-emitting diodes (LED) — bright and at the same time economical light sources with a uniform spectrum, thanks to which they do not distort real colours (which is especially important when applying makeup). But the specific features of this function may be different — depending, again, on the type of mirror.
So, in cosmetic models, LEDs are usually located around the entire perimeter of the working surface and shine directly into the face of a person looking in the mirror — thus, the face is illuminated as evenly as possible. This allows you to easily control the process of applying makeup or cosmetics, as well as quickly identify areas that require special attention. Similarly, mirrors of conventional design and mirror cabinets can be provided with luminous frames around the entire perimeter of the working surface. A simpler option is separate built-in oblong-shaped lamps, usually placed in the upper part of the mirror, less often on the sides or above and below. There are also traditional, separately made lamps — they are usually fixed above the mirror. But in models with pencil cases, illumination is extremely rare for a number of reasons.
When choosing, note that this function significantly affects the cost of the mirror. In addition, the backlight may require a network connection to work, although battery-powered systems are also found.
