Split system

— the main type of modern air conditioners. The split system consists of two units — outdoor and indoor. The outdoor unit provides heat exchange with the external environment; the indoor unit is responsible for direct air conditioning (cooling, humidification, ionization, etc.). The units are interconnected by control cables and pipelines.

One of the key advantages of this layout is that the indoor unit can be installed almost anywhere in the room — the main issue is that the allowable length of the pipelines is enough for this. So split systems can provide any type of installation, except for window air conditioners (see "Installation"). Most often, such air conditioners are sold as ready-made kits, but there may be exceptions — see "In box".
