Side opening

— a clasp, valve or other design feature that allows you to get to the contents of the backpack not in the traditional way (from above), but from the side. In high roomy models, this is often much more convenient than disassembling most of the contents by “digging up” the desired item. In addition, this feature can simplify loading — some items are more convenient not to push through the neck, but to be placed inside through the side opening. Similar functions in some models are performed by frontal opening (see the relevant paragraph).
