Tool kits with crosshead PH screwdriver
PH
— screwdrivers for the classic, original Phillips-type slot, which has a cross shape with rounded corners.Historically, this is the first of the widely used "cross" slots, and despite the appearance of more advanced forms (primarily PZ), it is still very common. In general, a cruciform shape provides more security than a straight shape, is better suited to work at high forces (reduces the risk of spline breakage), and also provides automatic tool centering. It is customary to attribute to the disadvantages of the original "Philips" a certain tendency to push the working nozzle out of the slot at high torque; to avoid this, additional efforts are required during operation. On the other hand, PH slotted screwdrivers are as versatile as possible: they are quite compatible with other similar slots — both PZ and combined PH / SL and PZ / SL.
